Our Summertime Protection Powerhouse

BeautyProducts
Summertime protection powerhouse
These three products single-handedly keep our family protected from the elements wherever we go all summer long!

Summer vacation is up and running and so am I trying to chase down 4 kids and keep them sun-burn and bug-bite free! We are spending our summer at the lake in British Columbia, Canada and filling our days with boat rides, mountain hikes, and lots of time at the beach! Before we left San Diego, I made sure I had our trifecta of tried and true powerhouse products that wouldn’t harm my kiddos’ skin with harsh chemicals, but also gave our family the protection we need! Here are my summertime staples:

Lemongrass Spa Bug repellent
This is the only bug repellent that stays on and protects my kiddos during our summer vacations in Canada

1) Lemongrass Spa Bug-a-Boo Repellent Stick We stopped at several National Parks on our road trip, and each time before we hiked, I swiped the kids with this stick on any exposed areas. Guys…this stuff is magic! My six year old, Avah, is super prone to bug bites and miraculously didn’t get any during our treks. I’m a big fan! Grab it here.

Beautycounter Stick Sunscreen
This BeautyCounter sunscreen stick is the real MVP when you’re trying to get sunscreen on a squirming baby!

2) Beautycounter Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Stick SPF 30This stick is the bomb! I always keep one in my car and one in my purse, and while generally I use it to do the kids’ and my faces, it’s also been a life save in a pinch when we’re out and about and I realize I forgot to apply sunscreen to the kiddos! Just swipe it on and run it in wherever you didn’t get and you’re good to go. Solid protection without the nasty chemicals! Here’s a link to the product on their site.

Supergoop Pump Sunscreen
This pump bottle stays in the minivan and is always handy. I love the scent, too!

3) Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen with Sunflower Extract SPF 50I’ve been using Supergoop for about four years now, and while I love the sunscreen mousse they sell when we are taking day trips in San Diego, I need a larger amount for these long trips. For the last couple summer, whenever we go on road trips I grab this big jug of sunscreen and keep it in the car with me. It lasts us all summer, works amazingly, and smells so good. Such a good size for a family and the pump on top makes applying it super easy, too! You can buy directly from Supergoop, or on amazon here.

What are some of your go-to sun and bug protection products?

Lookin at Lo

Growing up I always had a heart for adventure and a wish for a big family. These days, the halls of our home are filled with laughter and smeared peanut butter, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for joining me here where, between military marriage, big-family love, and living overseas, I share all the lessons I learn through motherhood, #Latenightcrafting, and the mistakes I make along the way! All while trying to instill a heart for adventure in our five littles. I love documenting our (mis)adventures on IG and hope you find inspiration for your next DIY, road trip, or just hard day when you follow along with #TeamArbo. Thanks for being here! Xo, Lo
